Most personal electronics have some form of removable memory card, and amongst the many cards available, the micro SD card is one of the most common.  They are extremely small, and range in memory capacity from less than 1G to 64GB and sometimes even more in the SDHC and SDXC formats.  SDHC and SDXC have the same form factor as a Micro SD card, but are faster with higher capacities, but their compatibility with each other is variable from device to device.

Another stat you will see is the MicroSD class.  These classes indicate the speed of the device with the class indicating the MB/s transfer rate.  For example, Class 2 are the slowest at 2MB/s, next are the Class 4′s with 4MB/s.  The micro SD class 6, and micro SD class 10 are the two fastest available right now.
